Support Partners:
Executive Summary
DI Records proposes the establishment of a dedicated Mental Health & Suicide Prevention initiative to support artists, staff, and the wider creative community. This initiative will integrate education, access to resources, partnerships, and advocacy into the label’s long-term identity.
The program aligns with DI Records’ mission of authenticity, care, and leadership within the independent music industry.
Purpose & Need
Research consistently shows that creatives face elevated risks of:
- Depression and anxiety
- Substance misuse
- Burnout
- Suicide and self-harm ideation
The music industry often lacks structured mental health support, leaving artists to navigate these challenges alone. DI Records has an opportunity to lead by example.
Goals
- Normalize mental health conversations within DI Records and its community
- Provide immediate access to crisis and local support resources
- Reduce stigma around mental illness and suicide, potentially via an online support community.
- Support artist longevity through wellness-focused practices and periodic artist/employee check-ins
- Partner locally to strengthen regional impact in Colorado
Program Components
1. Awareness & Education
- Mental Health Awareness campaigns (World Mental Health Day, Mental Health Awareness Month)
- Educational content on stress, burnout, creativity, and suicide prevention
- Social media and website-based resource hubs
2. Crisis & Suicide Prevention
- Promotion of 988 and Crisis Text Line resources
- Clear crisis response information on DI Records platforms
- Suicide prevention awareness training opportunities
- Potential app building and integration to text or call a peer counselor/support team
3. Artist & Staff Support
- Resource referrals for therapy and counseling
- Optional wellness check-ins
- Peer support culture development
- Look into grants to help subsidise counseling costs
Partnerships may include:
- Joint awareness events
- Guest speakers or panels
- Benefit concerts
- Resource sharing and referrals
Long-Term Vision
Within 12 months, DI Records aims to be recognized as:
- A label that prioritizes mental health and suicide prevention
- A safe, stigma-free space for artists
- A regional leader in music-industry wellness advocacy
Conclusion
This initiative is not just about prevention — it’s about preservation: of lives, creativity, and community.
DI Records has the opportunity to lead with empathy, responsibility, and impact.
“This is more than a program — it’s a promise to the people behind the music.”
